Michelle Worton’s Fight for Health; Medical Care Ongoing

Donation protected
Michelle’s medical journey continues, her story continues. Every single day she is grateful. Thank you for giving her a chance. Another day to fight. Her family is patiently waiting for Canada to step in again, however her conditions worsen without adequate medical care.

Michelle was a thriving woman. Independent, with a zest for life, energetic. You would find her in the backcountry, hiking or skiing in the mountains with her family. You would find Michelle serving her patients, her community, educating them, providing care; a career she loved for 20 years. You would find her living, every minute of every day. Truly living life. This is no longer the case, and hasn't been for almost three years.

The outcome of Michelle’s pineal cyst brain surgery was successful, many of her cyst associated symptoms resolved. “It is clear that the cystic pineal gland has to be producing something that is causing a chemical effect," says Patel. The research at MUSC is ongoing and her cells are donated for this study. The biopsy of the brain surgery showed mast cells; mast cells are immune cells which respond in allergic reactions. This helped her find yet again a medical team in the US; who determined the root conditions are due to an adverse reaction, immune response December 16, 2021. She is awaiting treatment for severe immunodeficiency, IgG Deficiency, POTS, Small Fibre Neuropathy, ongoing cystic masses, and much more. Care she needed three years ago, if her symptoms and conditions were acknowledged.

Amongst this experience; investigation, research and self-advocacy has been Michelle’s stronghold. Each step has brought her to a temporary intervention to still be here, and she can thank many of you for this. Today, over $300,000 on medical care has been exhausted. Likely closer to $350,000. This does not include loss of wages. And all private care. She is unable to work in her previous capacity, her children and family enduring this health crisis. Now utilizing an oxygen concentrator due to lung capacity damage and ongoing immune response.

Canada has continued to be unhelpful in the process and many specialists in British Columbia rejecting referrals sent on her behalf. Refusing care. Michelle is waiting for longterm IVIG/ SCIG and Plasma Exchange needed desperately to slow and manage her conditions. They are considering Stem Cell Transplantation in Panama City, Panama which she has been accepted for. The cost for the procedure being $26,900 USD plus travel.

Michelle is forever grateful for your love, support and generosity. Every little bit helps. Let's give back to a lady who has given so much to our community.
